Bloody and Broken...

After the Uktena ancestor departs, each of the cubs collapses to the ground, their bodies covered in deep wounds that will take some time to heal.

  1. After a short moment of recuperation, Jordan jumps to his feet, remembering that some of his comrades had fallen in battle. He first rushes to Joseph, who, despite his horrendous wounds dealt by fucked up looking cat-deer-fish, is still breathing ragged, but steady breaths. A moment of contemplation passes through Jordan's mind as he picks up Fisher's limp homid form, wondering if Joseph would have done the same. Not to mention the scientist's hesitation for being cooperative to Jordan's role as a "Alpha" for the group. Never the less, he shakes the thought free from his mind, knowing that the future will prove to be rewarding to those who do not claim to be with mere words, but physically, and spiritually, are there proving their worth for the greater good. He spins around, and notices Becker lying not but ten feet away, concious, despite his grievous wounds to his side, and in a pool of his own blood. Becker looks weakly looks up at Jordan, and as if he saw Jordan's moment of pause, and knew it to be a deep contemplation of the Ahroun's struggle to find his true role in the group of friends. Becker gives a wide blood-stained smile, and gives him the thumbs up and says "I think we just passed another test! I don't know how we're going to explain all of this, though." Jordan chuckles, as he scans the area for the remainder of the group. He quickly spots Anton atop of Connel administering some form of first aid, despite having two broken legs. Damn, Jordan thinks, does that guy have some backbone or what! "I need your tie!", Anton yells as he looks direcly at Jordan. "Of course, of course", Jordan says, hurredly walking over to Anton," Fisher's hurt too, can you help him?"

  2. Anton looks over the first aid he did on his two wounded pack mates. Becker and Westwood again look to him for advice on how to navigate this strange place and that makes Anton nervous. Back in school Anton used to know all the answers and in hockey he knew where to be and where others ought to be. He felt comfortable with others coming to him for help as he felt competent and confident. Now, not knowing completely what he is doing, he is scared that the others will see how truly ignorant he is in the world of spirits. Assured that Connell and Joseph are stable for now, he takes a deep breath and briefly thinks about what he has learned that day.

"If we leave now, we may never find this place again. I believe this was also meant for only us and this is our only shot. It also means that nobody will be coming to help us."

The fear hit Anton again. What if he is wrong? They will see just how little he knows. Deciding that he must keep going, he put the fear in the back of his mind.

"We have two more trials to overcome, Connell’s and Westwood's."

Anton looks up to Westwood as he mentions his name

"It is possible that in your trial that you will have to fight alone. And if you lose..."

"These two need rest. It might be days before they are ready to move again. If we don't bring back results then the others will keep looking at us as stupid cubs. I think that we should not let all the trouble that Crazy-Heart is getting in to be in vain. It's your call, Becker."

  4. ( This post was intended to be a response to Westwoods first post...it should be placed before Antons reply)

Becker sat watching Anton work. He had tried to help anyway that he could but Anton proved to be more than capable handling his wounded friends. Becker had been reduced to fetching water and putting pressure on wounds.
Becker now sat with Jordan Westwood in quiet anticipation as Anton finished his work. " I think we should step over and call the others to this place in the real world...I'm sure they'd like to be here when the Uktenna is ready to speak with us again..." realizing Anton was listening too, Becker looks back and forth between them waiting for thier reply.

  5. Jordan sits down next to the two. He pauses to stare off into the surreal, but more somewhat more-real existance of the spirit world. His sight shifts as he glances over at his two injured companion's labored breathing. As he seemingly stares off into space he says," If I am to be tested with combat, then so be it. I will not shy away from what I was destined to do. If I fall, then it would be to ensure that our quest would not be in vain. We were changed together by Gaia for a reason. I believe that reason to be so that we may learn from one another, and draw upon each other's strengths. It just so happens my stregnth is the one that most easily will be my undoing." His head turns, as he looks at Anton. He reaches with an open palm, and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Just know this. I would gladly die trying to save your life, or any of the others. I would gladly perish a thousand times if it meant that you all were kept safe, and the meaning behind our changing was brought to fruition." He stands up, and pats the dirt from his suit as he looks up into the sky and stares directly at the moon. As the lunar beams shine into his eyes, he gets a feeling reinvigoration, and says "I think we cannot leave Joseph and Connel here. We wait till they can go back to the real world. Until then we stay put, and keep our ears and eyes open." He cracks a wide smile and says,"Whoever, or whatever it is that I am to be tested with, is sure going to get a run for their money".

  6. Anton gives Jordan an approving nod.

"Westwood I know you can do this. I know we can do this. As for having Joe and Connel go back. No. We finish this journey together. That is the only way we make it out of here."

  7. Becker smiles inward, watching the two men put their differences aside. His job was ofren unrewarding but he allowed himself a pop at on the back a feeling of satisfaction for accomplishing a feat he had thought almost impossible. He sprawled himself out on the grass and let out a pain tinged sigh.
" its settled then, we stay put...better rest up while we can then huh?"

  8. After a moments rest Becker suddenly sits upright and surveys the area around him. Upon finding Anton and Jordan going about their business Becker stands and jogs up to them and speaks with excitment.
"Hey guys! Something just occurred to me while I was napping. Based on the information the tree spirits gave us im pretty sure we've completed 4 of our 5 trials. Anton, you said we still had to face Westwoods trial, but without Westwood I seriously doubt the 4 of us would have survived the encounter with the Uktenna Spirit. If tearing pieces of flesh off of that thing didn't count as "striking deep" i don't know what would. You also said that we still had to complete Connell's trial, which is true, but if remember his clue at all didn't it have something to do with spreading the word?? I think it did.. Anyway long story short I think that the only thing left to do here is wait for these 2 to wake up and for the Uktenna to come back and explain to us why we are here and noone else is...oce thats done i can say with relative certainty our next move be to retrieve the others from the real world and bring them here."
Becker examines each of his comrades in turn to make sure they understand. Satisfied he continues.
" What do you think Westwood? Id personally rather have Sheila here with us when that thing comes back. If it comes looking for a rematch I don't think we will do so well.."

  9. "Hmmm, I've been doing some thinking as well", Jordan says in deep thought, "If the spirit came to us in a challenge, and we defeated it, then I think it would not come back again to fight once more. A defeat is a defeat, and at least most warriors have some kind of honor. You then showed it mercy, which was part of your trial. If it does come back I think it will not be agressive. Of course one cannot assume, but I have a strong feeling that the spirit will be helpful instead. It seems we were meant to find this place, the five of us. If we passed the four tests, then maybe if the spirit does come back, then Connel can tell him of what is going on, with the start of the apocolypse, and Fobok and all..... I say we wait until Connel, and Joseph are concious, and possibly the spirit may reappear. We herald the coming of the apocolypse to it, and take what information it gives us, and what clues we can gain for the re-entry to this sacred place, and then tell our "superiors", starting with Crazyheart, since we've probably put him in some deep shit. Until our friends awake, or the spirit comes, I want all of us to keep a vigilant eye out for an attack. We are in a vulnerable position. We were much stronger as five. It wouldn't take much to snuff those two out the way they are now afterall...."
